東京駅、電車を待つ列に並んでいる僕の目の前にその男はにいた,その日は先日自転車で転んだ時の足の傷が痛かったので、電車の席に座って帰りたかった。電車が来た、始発駅でそれほど込み合う時間帯ではないので少し機敏に動けば席は簡単に取れる。BUT 幅の広い男はそのサイズにも関わらず席に座ろうと苦戦していた、彼の後ろに居た僕は彼の前にも横にも行けず、席は全て取られてしまった。Man what a day !!!!!! 幅の広い男は電車から立ち去り、次の電車の列の方に向っていた、そういう問題ではないだろう !!! IF you Keep your Size like that you won't get any seats in a public transportation man !!! I will tell you that !....

絶好のロケーションに、連日テレビや雑誌の撮影が行われている

　日伊文化交流の拠点
　サラリーマンの町・新橋から数分歩くと、いつの間にか歩道が石畳になり、色鮮やかなビルが広場を囲むイタリアの街角に誘い込まれる――。

　「汐留イタリア」と名づけられたこの一画では、イタリアを模した街づくりが進められている。ビルのテナントは、オフィスが中心。そのため、街は少々落ち着きすぎた印象だが、昨年１２月に「汐留イタリアクリエイティブ・センター」が完成すると、週末にはカップルなどが訪れるようになった。

　現代イタリアの魅力を、「デザイン」に焦点を当てて紹介する施設。ミラノにある国際的な工業デザインの展示場「ラ・トリエンナーレ・ディ・ミラノ」を誘致し、下絵から家具や車などの実物までを常設展示する。ほかにも、現代の「デザイン・アート・建築」をテーマにした企画展やセミナーを開催。同じビルにあるカフェ「アーキテクトカフェ汐留」は、ショールームも兼ねていて、生活の中のデザインを体験しながら料理が楽しめる仕掛けになっている。

　汐留イタリア内は、４月に「三井ガーデンホテル汐留イタリア街」が完成し、数年後には劇場の建設計画がある。日本の「リトルイタリー」は、いま生まれたばかりだ。
